Effective March 26, misdialed calîs placed to area codes 416 and 905 will eithte not hé connected or will reach a recording instructing thé customer to redial using the correct area code. While thé area code split has gene smoothly to date, many customers have not taken thé tim to add the 905aréa code (where necessary) to their teléconmmunications equipment. As well, ongoing trafflc studies by Bell' network services Big Brothers will celebrate 25th year, departmént indicate that very few customers are diahing correctly when pîacing local calls between area codes 416 and 905. To assist those custoîners who have not yet made the change, Bell bas recently introduced a ' branding' message, played before a customer's oeil i. completed. Thé message reminds the custorner to insert the proper area code before thé sevén-digit number when placing local calîs fromn area code 416 to 905, or 905 to 416. The Community Based Environrnental Initiative is a grant programn designed to encourage local projects that will enhance and protect the environment along our pipeline route, as well as generate public awareness of environmental issues. Grants up to $5,000 are currently available to groups demnonstrating financial need for projects to be implemented at the local level. Funding is provided to community groups such as youth clubs, service clubs, volunteer orgariizations, schools or school boards, environmcental groups and municipal councils. Initiatives supported in the past have ranged from the development of an educational project on wildlit'e to the construction of interpretive nature trails. Other ideas include: cleaning up a local stream or roadside; planting trees to enhance a natural area; providing educational material for a local library or school.
