Police say the man was asked by the owner of Golden Gate Restaurant, 107 Brock St. S., to look at somne coins and *ewelry being shown to him ey two males. The items appeared to be genuine but the victimn took themn to a local jeweller to have themn appraisedjust to be sure. Te items were found to be 507 Brock St. North, Whitby 666-5755 Mon., -lues., Wed. 10-6, I hurs., Frî. 10-9, Sat. 10-5 I J genuine and the victim agreed to by120 gold bracelets and 72 one-ounce gold Mexican coins for $20,000. He went to his bank to get the money but was only a ble to with draw $ 15,000, which the suspects reluctantly accepted. Police say they promised to return later with more gold if anyone was interested. The victim then returned to the jewellers with the items, where it was discovered the genuine articles had been swit- ched wîth near-worthless fakes. . EMB R O H TORN.
