Despite the injury, he knocked out his opponent. He will meet Colin M atchem of the_ Ajax Boxing Club in the 147-pound, welterweight divi- sion. Motor City club instructor and coordinator Don Nelson says Mullane hasn't been inactive since his last fight despite the injury, continually working out at the club's facility, and Nelson expects the young boxer will give another good showinjg. Jeif Wynistorf, Adam Bickle and Mlike Zyhar combined in strikcing out 16 batters to beat the Ajax squad 2-0, allowing only two hits and three walks over the seven-inning gaine. Bicle got the win. Ron Fornarolo started off the hitting in the second inning with a single and added another in the fourth. He then scored from third while Ryan Wiswell kept the Ajax infield busy with an intentional run down between first and second. Wynistorf scored the other Whitby run. Paul Winkley and Pat McMullan added to Whitby's hitting attack. The rest of Whitby's roster includes Gordon Pomaroy, Brian Witruk, RIcky Mace, Brad Booth and Tyler Wood. This year's coaching staff includes Terry Witruk, Stu Mace and Ken Bicle. Rick Winkley is manager. Mike Dunford, David Beckford and John Barr combined for a seven inning, one-hit shutout, allowing just three walks and only two runners to, reach third base. The Whitby defence was excellent as they played error-free ball and made several tough defensive plays. The Whitby bats were also booming as they smashed out 10 hits and took advantage of several Ajax errors. The gaine was scoreless until the second inning when Judd Stevenson led off with a single, stole second base and scored on a Mark Cipparone double. Luke Harden followed with a single putting runners on the corners, and then Chris Lazary cashed in two more runs with a Ken Fulton's MONDAY'S CHOICE GOLF CENTRE double making the score 3-0. In the' third inning a Cipparone single scored Barr, who had ledl off with a single and stole second to get into scoring position. 'Whitby closed off the scoring in the sixth inning when Stevenson singled, stole second and scored on a single by Harden. This year the minor peewee team wüllcompete in a six teani Eastern Ontario Basebal Association loop with Ajax, Clarington, Oshawa, Peterborough and Port Hope. Home gaines will generally be on Wednesday nights at Peel Park #1, with ail gaines to start at 6 p.m. The first home gaine is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25. Other members of the teain are Adamn Balan, Will Bright, Ryan Mitchell, Joel Prues and Wayne Wickens. The coaching staff is comprised of John Prues, Derrick Balan, Walt Lazary and Bian Beckford, who also doubles as teamn manager.
