John Uprichard, pre-si dent of the tour, says Taylor Made is the sponsor and is looking to a bigger and better year. The tour offers juniors an opportunity to play against stiff opposition on a level playing field with no handicap and to improve their knowledge of the game. Returning to the tour this year will be last yearsi champion Todd Lori Ricica of the Whitby F igure Skating Club had a flrst- p lace finish at the Scarborough Skate held recentiy. Ricica won go Id in the senior bronze ladies' final after taking to p spot in flig ht. Là indsay Mao oey won a bronze in the junior bronze ladies' final after a third-place finish in fligit. Medith Gilbert earned a bronze inedal in goid artistic ladies. Juanita Baker was fourth in silver artistic ladies and Allan Coscarella was fifth in the junior bronze ladies' final after a second-place finish in flight. Local skaters mn top 15 Two members of the Whitby Roller Skating Club competed in the first North Ainerican junior roller skating championships in Camnbridge May 6-8. Pia Schmidt-Hansen piaced 13th in ladies' freestyle. Rebecca Woodhouse placed eighth in ladies' figures and 15th in ladies' freestyle. Other countries competing were Australia, China, me co, New Zeaand and the United States. Burreli, 1993 Ontario junior golf champion Derek Gillespie and runnîer-»up Eddie Maunder. The top 15 players stili eligible from last year'order of menit are given exemptions for this yea's tour. Thisf leaves 45 spots open, as a total of 60 players will compete on the tour. The tour is aecepting 100 entries for these spots. The coOt for the qualifying round is $20. This year the toues uaUfYing round wiil be a t the Newcsle Golf club on Saturday, June 4 starting at noon. The tour is open toalal junior goifers who reside in Durham Region, Northumberland or Peterborough counties. To be eligible, junior golfers must be aged 18 and under as of Aug. 12.
