The striped and floral patterns tested, for example, attracted the fewest mosquitoes while a solid dark green shirt registered the highest biting counts. The study supports the theory that mosquitoes show a preference for dark colours, but the differenoes are less pronounced than in earlier research. Surgeoner also investigated the impact of different cap colours and designs, but found they had no impact on biting counts. Surgeoner suggests picking a repellent that matches the anticipated intensity of the bugs.
