Here is what the booklet says about litter: "Litter is waste that is .disposed of incorrectly. Take home recyclables for your blue box, use public recycing depots and in the case of non- recyclables, use garbage containers." NAjxs Joe Dickson and two members of the Pickering Waste Reduction Committee, Laureen Morris and yours truly, presented two trophies'at Durham Regional Ceuncil on June 8. e trophies were awared te the region who 'weighed in' the least residential garbaeatr Waste Reduction Wèek (WRW). Trucks are weighed before and after.WRW events and the region whose volume h as dceased the most is the winner. Two years ago, Pickering challenged Ajax to the contest and the -result was a tie. Last year Ajaxflickering together challenged ail the other reions. Scugog was the oveal champion, reducing its waste by nine xnetric tonnes. With such a great result, a spcial 'keeper' trophy asgven te, Howard Hlof Scugog with the larger trophyt remain in bis office until the 1994 (Oct. 17-23) WRW.
