At the 10:30 a.m. cerernony, Fred Upshaw, a 1975 nursing graduate, was presented with the gward. Sinco 1990, Upahaw bas held the position of president of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union representing, 110,000 public service workers in Ontario. Also ho holdo the postion of vice-president for both the National Union of -Public and General Employees and the Ontario Federation of Labour. In the past, he was président of the Toronto Region Jaycees, and served, as the national directer of leadership training. Ho has coeched minor sports in Oshawa for 20 years.
