Two of the youths were arres- ted followinig a hold-up at a Whitby Esso station. The teeng, carrying a shotgun, hold up an attendant at the station at Taun- ton and Thickson roads around 3: 15 a.m. Wednesday, July 6. They wore given a emnal aniount of cash and cigarettes and ran te a waiting car. The attendant managed te g*et the liconse plate number andcalled police. Police spottedthe stolen car, a 1988 Pontiac Bonneville SSE later found to be Fttolen from Port Perry, shortly afterwards travel- ling east on Taunton Road and gave chase. Police lost the vehicle a couple of times as the cuiprits led them on a variety of main and back roads inte Oshawa, west to Ash- burn, then north to Prince Albert and Port Porry. «They knew the back roads better than the officers did, commented Staff Sergeant Sandy Ryrie. The cuiprits finally ran into a police cruiser near Community Memorial Hospital in Port Perry, causing substantial damage te the cruisers front end, and theri fled. A 16-year-old was picked up immediately and a or outh, also 16, was arrested a short distance away. No one was hurt. in the col- lision, the chase or the robbery. uWe're vory fortunate,» says Ryrie.
