Doyuknow how much nioney yeu want (or need) 10 years from nowU? At retirement? Or do you want an early retirement, and suffilcient money te do the traveling, hobbies etc. you've always wanted? Have y ou given these things any thought? Or ... are you like thousands (the majority) of Canadians who have no specific goals in life, but they only wish. 1 read an article recently from a book written by Robert Allen, called 'Creating Wealth.' It had niany things that 'lit home" te me, and r'd like te pas some of them on to you. In part it reads: "Set realistic (financial) goals and write thein down. "The 1954 Yale University graduating seniors were asked if they had set specific written financial goals at the time of graduation. Only three per cent had done se. About 10 per cent had specific goals, but hadn't committed thein to paper. The rest had no specific goals. "Twenty yvears I ater they were re-surveyed. Ouest which group was t he most successful? You guessed it. The three per cent outperformed the other 97 per cent combined.' Those were top university graduates, and only three per cent had written down their goals. That's three out of every 100. Do you think there is even one r r cent of us ordinary mortals who have written down geas, be they financial, or whatever? Probably net. We are like a ship leaving port, without the slightest idea of where we want te go, or what we want te do with ourselves. In the first two paragraphs we asked some questions. Why don't yeu sit down now, with pencil and paper and write down answers te those questions pertaining te your fif. Start planning for your future, particularly, your financial future, because se much of what we wish te do depends upon our financial abililty. Seek the help of professionals in laying eut financial goals. It does take a plan, which lays eut the mechanics reqwired te meet your goals. Ive heard many people say "rd like te be a millionaire' but it is only a "wish," not a goal. A goal is a rea] desire for something, and if you let your mmdd dwell on that goal, by writing it down and reading it every day, you soon come up with ideas te) help you achieve your goal. Maybe even investment funds can help you achieve those goals faster, because many of them. have records of averaging 13 te 15 per cent per year over the past 10 years.
