The. troupe dedicates itself te presenting challenging and entertaining plays with an emphasis on innovative acting, directing and design, and te keeping costs low se that live *theatre can be accessible te al members of the community. The. season opens early this year with ' To The Point»>,' an evening of 10-minute plays, each with a diffrent director. The. pieces are net exce1pts, but full shows intended te explor. the chosen theme briefly. For DSP, the. project will provi de work for new directors and a large nuxnber of acters. 'To I To The Point»>' runs Oct. 14,' 15. 20. 21 and 22. with a vublic audition tonight (Wedn.esday). Next up is eLiove Letters> by A.R. Gumney, directed by Joe Szekeres. This show is perfornied by two actors, one male, one fernale, who share through letters the experiences of their tangled lives. Audiences will enjoy and relate te the highs and lows of the characters' lives, but will aIse be treated te performances that demand much of the acters. ' Love Letters' runs for three performances only, the evenings of Dec. 2 and 3, with a xnatineee at 2 p.m. on Dec. 4. Actera can audition on Wednesday, Sept. 14. 1995 brings two Canadian plays te round eut the season. Carolyn Wilson will direct 'Can You See Me Yet?' by famed novelist imothy Findley. Set in a lunatic asylum of the. late thirties, the unusual play uses drama, humour and a cast of il men arnd women te explore the idea of finding a safe haven when the outside world becomes unbearable. The. audition will b. Tuesday, Oct. 18, with performances on Jan. 27 and 28, Feb. 2,3 and 4. O0f the Fields Lately,' by David F'rench, will b. directed by Ed Daigle. The play relates a chapter in the lives of the. Mercer family who left Nwfoundland for tToronto in the early 1960s. Each family member struggles to, find a way of coping with the city, with th.mselves, and with each other. The community choir, based in Oshawa consists of about 45 mixed voices. The choir draws its members from throughout Durham Region. Three concerts are planned for the season, with the first concert in November. It will b. a Christmas program with music by Pachelbel, Rutter, Wilan and others. The. choir, under the direction of Robert Phillips, is currently recruiting voices. Two positions in each of the soprano, alto, tenor and bass divisions are available. Weekly rehearsals are held on Monday eveninge from September te May.
