Ridin' and ropin' at finial in iOrono The best cowboys and cowgirls from around the province will compete for top prize money and the famed championship gold buckle at the Ontario Rodeo Association 1994 finals. This year's finals will be held in Claringon at the Durham Central Agriculture Society Fairgrounds in Orono the weekend of Sept. 23-25. Sponsored by the Kinsmen and Rotary clubs of Bownmanville, the weekend will feature aIl of the favourtie events that comprise the rodeo. The list of events includes bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, team roping, bull doggin', junior steer riding, caif roping, and the always-popul ar and dangerous bull iding. Two shows will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 beginning at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. The finals will get underway at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25. A giant western mail featuring close to 60 vendors will welcome visitors to the rodeo. Rides, games of chance, barbecues, and everything from cowboy boots to the latest in western wear will be on display. As an added attraction, on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., a dance featuring OP notch country band Waywar wiil be held in the 'Big Tent.' Wayward's exciting stage presence has afforded them the opportunity to be the opening act for respected country and western artists Michelle Wright and Ricky Skaggs. The opening act for both Friday and Saturday nights' concerts will be Chaser. If last year's rodeo final held in Courtice is any indication, the site in Orono will be a flurry of activity fo>r the entire weekend. As part of the Rotary and Kinsmen clubspcommitment to fundraising for special causes, a portion of the proceeds from the 1994 rodeo finals will be donated to cystic fibrosis and disabled children. Tickets for the Ontario Rodeo Association 1994 finals can be purchased at Wild Willy's in Whit.
