Cardwell scored WMU's seventh goal of the Notre Dame gaine and set up WMU's third goal in the BGSU contest. He had a teaxn-high +5 plus-minus for the week. Cardwell, a former rnember of the Markhamh Waxers, has played in nine of WMU's il gaines and has eight points, three more than his rookie campaign total of five in 32 gaines last year. For the season, Cardwell owns a +7 plus-minus rate. Western Michigan is 6-4-1 overaîl and 3-4 in Central Collegiate Hockey Association action. Although they played one of their finest gaines in some time, Whitby couldn't answer back froin three Central power play goals, even though they had several excellent. scoring chances, and lost 3-0. Evan Kitarnura had a strong gaine between the pipes. Despite a valiant effort on the part of Phil Greenen in net, Whitby's gamne in Peterborough on Nov. 13 ended in a 5-1 bass. Sean Cunnngham led the way with three goals and- Paul Michael Riveat had two. Singles were added by Ryan Pike, Bradley Arbour, Colin Harvey and Andrew Lebel. The team, sponsored by Master Bedroom, played in their firat tournamnent of the year in Osprey Township on Nov. 13. The first opponent faced was a'teamn from Oshawa, and Whitby dominated, coming away w&ith a 12-0 win. Goals were provided by Lebel with four, Rivest with three and singles te Shawn Holman, Cunningham, . Jason Gordon, Harvey and Mfichael MacPhee. Devan Brick anchored ..the defence and pitched in with four assists. .Shutout goaltending duties were shared by Andrew Braithwaite and Jared Mllar. Gaine two of the tournament saw Markdale defeat Whitby 5-3. Scoring were. Cunningham, Arbour and Gordon. On Nov. 18 Whitby returned te, longue play and skated te a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Parkwooda. Scorers were Cordon, Rivest, Stuart Petrie, Lebel and Arbour. Wildcats defeated Pickering rep B teain 4-0 Nov. 19. Andrew Ewart led the way with a pair of goals. Harvey and Cunningham rounded out the scoring. Again the goaltending duo of Millar and Braithwaite kept the door shut te preserve the shutout. Novices win first game The Whitby Wildcats ininor novice select hockey teain, sponsored by the Toronto Dominion Bank, picked up their flrst win of the season by defeating Goulding Park Rangera 3-i on Nov. 17. The defensive corps of Nicholas Holmes, Robert Cotroneo, A.J. Wheaton, Mark San Pedro, Kyle Sledziewski and Adam Saniga cleared the puck aIl evening and inanaged to hold the Rangera to seven ahots on goal. Wildcats fired 22 shots on the Rangers' net. Matthew Anderson opened the scoring at 5:38 of the first period. Matthew Houghton and Bradley Harris helped out on the winning goal by Cory Bruinsma at 8:51 of the third. Anthony Novia, aided by Shane Morillo and Andrew Mendows, tallied the insurance marker with 37 seconds remaining in the gaine. The goaltending tandem of Jordon Callaghan and Alex Renaud were up for the task by ahutting down a nuinber of difficult breakaway ahots.
