Buffett recuperating B y Mike Kowalski Local businessman Ed Buffett is faring well after suffering a near fatal heart attack last month. A spokesperson in Buffett's Whitby office said the 51-year- old insurance broker was released from hospital two weeks ago and is recuperating at home. If ail goes according to plan, Buffett should be back at work on a part-time basis later this month or in early December, the spokesperson said. Buffett suffered the heart attack the morning of Oct. 30 and was rushed to Whitby General Hospital. After hie condition etabilized, he wae transferred to Sunny- brook Hospital in Toronto for further treatment. Several callérs' told The Free Prose at the time that if not for the quick work of Dr. Naresh Kumar and emergency depart- ment staff at Whitby General, Buffett may not have eurvived. Involved in many community and charitable events in Whitby, Buffett la paet chair of Whitby General'e board of directors and former chair of the Downtown Business Improvement Area. He had been Mayor Tom Edwards' campaign manager when the attack occurred.
