In a tough 16-team division, Whitby firat defeated Camnbridge Hawks 2-0. Marc Gleeson got the shutout, Tyler Harrison and Wade Branch scored. The next game was a 4-3 win over Markham. With the score tied 3-3, Whitby's Ryan Tutak and Sean Pitcher combined to strip the puck away from a defender and fed it back to the point, where Sean Hill's shot was deflected into the net. 1Andrew Pigrarn, Michael Koeiw and Brandon MeBride had the other Whitby goals. Wildcats' third game was versus the tournainent hosts Brant Bandits. Wildcats played their gari from the outset and with bard skating and good passing led 3-1 alter the first period.Scoring for Whitby were MeBride and Harrison with two. The teains traded goals in both the second and third Periods, with Jamie Fox and Ronnie Robertson notching the niarkers for the Cats. The final was 5-3. With -three wins in ,round-robin, Whitby earned a berth in the serni-finals. Their opponent was the MTHL-leading Toronto Marlboroughs, who had won their three tournaunent gaines without surrendering a single goal. Wildcats opened the scoring less In eastern AAA 'action, the Whitby McDonald's nunor novice hockey teamn continued their winning ways with back-to-back victories over Barrie and Ajax-Plckering. At home against Barrie, Wildcats coasted te a 5-2 win. After playing te, a scorelesa first period, Barrie took the lead in the second but Steven Seedhouse scored for Whitby when he stole thie-puck off the Flyer defence and fired one homne. Barrie counted again on a tip in but before the period was over, Bobby Scott, on a nice feed by Andrew Laramy, evened the score at 2-2. Ini the third, Liaun Reddox broke the deadlock on a short-handed effort and found the mark again on a three-way passing play with Scott and Nicolas otter. Ini the dying seconds, Reddox completed hi. bat trick on an emnpt net goal from Brandon Davis. Reps took the lead twice but Whitby tied the score, both times' on goals from Harrison and Robertson, Wildcats took thel ead for the first time early in the third when Kosiw, . converted a Ranger-Harrison passing play. But Mississauga tied the score niidway through the fnne. W'ith 3:45 left ini the first, Reddox tore down the wing again and found the markL ýWhitby continued te, press in the second period and took a 5-O lead inte the third. Reddox completed his second hat trick in as many games with assists going te Jason King and Jason Velacich. Scott and michael McKenzie also counted for. Whitby. Ajax-Pickeing got on the board early in the third period when Whitby was two men short and pressed again for two more before Whitby's checkcing unit., got back on track.
