There are 5,000 subscribers thus far to'Horse Talk,' written for ail ages. "Our magazine presents practical information in a really entertaining way,r says Tracy Hanes, a freelance writer who is co-owner and managing editor of the magazine. The magazine is of interest to anyone frorn a novice rider to a professional, says partner Ruth XVdovich, who handles advertising for the publication. "Our magazine is aimed at people that want to enjoy horses, flot just professionals,» she says. Both long-time horse loyers, they joined forces last summer. Vdovich had been selling advertising for a similar horse magazine while Hanes was then entertainment editor at the Peteýrborough Examiner. A recent issue of 'Horse Talk' was about saddlebred horses, and included an article about Ian Degruchy of Brooklin, owner of saddlebred horses. An upcoming issue will focus on quarterhorses. 'Horse Talk' features include Ae Experts,' opinions and advice about horses; 'Healthbeat,' symptoms and treatment of horse ailments; 'Winner's Circle,' photographs of recent competitions, and classified ada. Plans are in the works for the magazine to sponsor horse competitions. Hanes and Vdovich also ain to expand the magazine, both in content and subseriptions. And they will gladly accept ideas for features and reader input. The Daily Planet in the Whithy Mail carrnes copies of the magazine. 'u 1
