Feb. 13 against Qunte was a high-scoring affair that saw both teanis exchange the lead and then play ta a 6-6 tie. Steve Death and Mark Haynes each had three goals and two assists. Mike'Robertson had three assists. Goalie Tom Lawson faced 39 shots In the contest. 'Peterborough and Whitby played to a 141 tie on Feb. 15. The Petes xnanaged ta et on the board first only ta have Death answer lesa than a minute later. Dan Fletcher had a strong outing and turned asde 31 shots. On Feb. 18 Central Ontario came ta town for a 9-3 thumping. The third period saw Whitby erupt for six goals. Justin Collins had a big night with the hat trick and one assist. Other mnarksmen for the evening were Death and Paul Gray with two oach while Matt Capson and Haynes countod singles. Bryan Crouch and Haynes each had three assists, Dan Ricica two. The regular season -finale was a 6-5 win over Quinte on Feb. 19 as Paul Gray got the winner. Death scored Whitby's first three goals. Gray assisted on two of the goals while Crouch and Haynes had singles. Whitby had ta come from bohind three tinies during this match with additional goals froni Capson and Mfike Robertson who also had two assists. Whitby wlll face the Quinte teani in the first round of playoffs. Justin Fox tied the gaine late i the third to force overtime and scored the -winner with four minutes left i sudden death. JoSh Miller, who waa converted ta forward from defence in this series, set up both of Foxs goals. Wildcats had taken a 1-0 series lead, winning 5-1 at home. Before the end of the first, an Andrew Lamiot shot from just over the blueline and a Justin Hawe rebound propelled Whitby ta a 3-0 lead. idway through the second, Bowmanville scored. Andrew Maitland made it 4-1. Before the period had ended, Bowmanville scored ta make it 4-2. In the third, Bowmanville came on strong and narrowed the margin ta 4-3. After some fine stops by netminder Ian Uptan, Kevin Walsh fired a bullet ta, make it 5-3. Bowmanville kept pressing and got another goal ta make it 5-4. With leas than one minute ta go Bowmanille pulled their goalie in favour of an extra attacker but Whitby held on for the win. Whitby lost in the final of a one-day tournament in Uxbridge recentlv. In the first game. against Parkwood, Whitby struck first on a goal' by Mclntyre. Parkwood tied it and thon took the lead in the second which would eventually ho the winner. Niblett and 'White shared goaltending duties for Whitby. In the second game, Wildcats defeated Uxbridge 4-2. Henry scored twico, Mcflhone and McIntyre completed the scoring. The finals, against league archrival Bowmanville, saw Whitby fall 6-2, both goals by Henry. After a scoreless first period with goodï scoring chances at bath ends of the rink, West Hili took a 1-0 Jead early in the second.
