Permits were issued for more than $3 million worth of con- struction, mostly residential, during March in VWhitby. lhe permits were for 17 single family homes, valued at- $27 million. That'. down considerably from the $11-million worth of residen- tial permits issued in March last year. But Mayor Tom Edwards says Whitby "continues to do com- paratively well" when many other communities in the Grea- ter Totonto Area have experien- ced «drastic -reductions" mn real estate sales. Moreover, permits have been issued in the first three months of 1995 for almost $42 million worth of building,-- althougfh $38 million of that amount is fr the final prtio of the Whiitby Men- talHRealth Centre reevelop- ment. In the flrst three months of last year permits were issued for $18 million worth of construc- tion.
