They have closed the two (2) Northbound lanes and are using the two (2) Southbound lanes as a two-way traffic-thorouglifare. There is stili plenty of parking, and accessibility to the businesses can be achieved! This fîrst stage of the project will last approximately four weeks and there will be some traffic congestion. GUIDES CLEAN 'UP Last Wednesday evening a whirlwind swept through Brooklin cleaning up much of the litter around Kinsmen Park, Brooklin Community Centre and the United Church. Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders, Rangers and thefr leadefrom the rooklin District of Guiding spent a few hours participating in the <Pitch-in Canada' programn. This is an annuel spring cleaning program that operates in many cities and tewns acroas the country. And this spring, Brooklin was sorely in the need of a dlean-up. Brooklin Medical Centre provided latex gloves for everyone. The Guides will have a table full of wonderful baked goodies for sale at the spring fair on Saturday, June 3. ST. LEO TO QUEBEC This week the Grade 7 and 8 class at St. Leo will visit historic Quebec C ty. They'll be able'te try out their French when they spend part of the day in alocal achool. Theyll tour the historie Citadelle and Plains of Abraham, visit a sugar shack, Montmorency Falls, a gourmet restaurant and take a boat cruise Up the St. Lawrence- and that is just a partiel list. Not a bad little- holiday, 1 mean, education experienoe. And oxperience it will be for the brave aduit volunteers who will ho nrding-herdh.-ý-- -- CAREER NIGBT Ail Brookln Grade 7 and 8 students have been mnvited by the Optimist Club te a special Career Niglit- at the Brooklin Community Centre on Thursday, June 15, 7 te 8 pan. People in ail sorts of careers will ho there and then students will try te, guesa their profession by askIrig thern a series of yes/no questions. Now that could be a lot of fan. There will alse b. an opportunity for "trewl questions as well. This will give students who are on their way te high school a great opportunity te find eut what various career choices are really like -- and what is the best way to, get there. JUMPING FOR EAR The Heart and Stroke Foundation's Jump Rope for He&rt is back., This poga consiste cf education,, fitness and fundraising. Kids learn about healthy eating and living and take turne skipping. They are already making the rounds asking fior pledges with the monies collected going back te the foundation. PANCAIKEBRA AS St.Leo's parish will hold the annuel pancake breakfast at the Brooklin Conuunity Centre on May 28, 10 a.rn. to 2 p.m. Coot is $6 for adults and $3 for children.
