Many Brooklinites romain unaware that what they have long thought of as the residential and commercial areas of the village are about te be perxnanentiy changed. A year ago Town 'council voted te adopt a new officiai plan which inciuded zoning changes in the village (the plan has yet te be approved - by the Region. Essentialiy, the mixed-use area that allows commercial and residential uses has been greatly expanded and includes the properties of many residents who are currently unaware of this. The notie the Town sent around iast week did not indicate the specific proposed zoning changes. Oniy a call te the Town or attendanoe at the Oct. 16 information meeting at the Town hall at 7:30 p.m. will clarify the situation. Résidents near the vacant parcel ofiland at the corner ôf George and Baldwin -just north of the creek - have been surprised te learn that the zoning has changed from residential te mixed use. The propert owner has filed plans with the Town te build a commercial plaza, high density residential dwellings and a big parking lot.
