Sean Pitcher scored off a wcrable in front of the Barrie net, Sean FEU picked up the assist. The third Whitby marker was the result of perfect passing when Robertson beat Mike Thompson in the Barrie goal with a low shot to the stick side. Tyler Harrison and Kosiw assisted. Wbitby's fourth goal was the result of soine more great passing when Pitcher scored bis second of the game, Wade Branch and Brandon McBide assisting. Barrie's only goal in the period was a powerplay effort that came off the sick of Thompson. Midway through the third period, Wbitby received two minor penalties 17 seconds apart. Barrie stormed the Wbitby net, however, Whbitby goalie Marc Gleeson stood bis ground as he stopped everything Barrie directed bis way. Thompson finally scored bis third of the game on a breakaway just' as the firat minor penalty was over. VWtby was able to kcill off the remai*ning penalty with Harrison winning faceoff after faceoff and then clearing the puck from the Whitby zone. Novices on a rol The Wbitby major novice AAA hockey team advanced its winning streak to three games in league play. Against Vaughan, VWtby scored 13 goals on the strength of a ful team paesing effort. Liam Reddox, Bobby Scott and Stephen Seedhouse each earned hat tricks, with single markers from Jason Velacich, Kenny Henry, Matt Snowden and Aaron Balcom. Defenders Randy. Walton, Nicholas Cotter, Ferni Amurawaiye, Tom I.ske and Jason Kling each earned assists as Vaughan was held to only two scoring chances. Against ERichmond H11l, Wildcats got revenge for a loss in recent tournament action that stopped Wbitby from advancing to the championship match. Wildcats came out on top 5-2 ini a penalty-ridden game. Michael McKenzie. had a hat trick, with singles from Seedhouee and Velacich. Such was the case in the Whitby minor novice AAA hockey team's firet game of the season, a 4-2 loss to Vaughan on Sept. 25. Vaughan took the lead early in the firat period but Witby kept coming back, pounding repeatedly on the net. James Neal scored one for Whitby but Vaughan had a sharpshooter who put one high to take the lead again in the first. Philip Mcllhone's goal in the second gave Whitby their second wind, and in the third period each forward line was relentless, with shot after shot stopped by Vaughan'!s goalie. In the other game played againet Markham in Brooklij, Wildcats went on a tear as they defeated Markham 12-1. Pitcher led the attack with three goals; Ryan Tutak, Kosiw and McBride had two escli, wh-ile Branch and Harrison had singles.
