Last weekend, WAFA had $900 in pumpkin saleis, says association *pokeuperson Cheryl Thompson. About 300 pumpkIns, froin Liton Vegetable Farine ini Brooklin and Browview Farine in Clarington, were sold by 16 volunteers. During grolap play, Whitby won ail their gaines ta advance ta, the playoff round where they met a strong Detroit Honeybake teain. Detroit led 2-0 at the end of the firat, added one in the scnd and three in the third. The loss elirninated the Wildcats froin further taurnainent play. In the firet gaine of group play, Whitby defeated Toronto Young Nats 7-2. Ryan Tutak and Tyler Harrison had two goals each while Jamie Fox, Ron Robertson and Brandon McBride had singles. Paul Ranger had two assists. hn the second gaine, Wildcate scored 'a convincing 8-1 victory over Detroit Falcons. Marc oeeeson bad a strong outing in the Whitby goal and inade soine key saves in the early part of the gaine ta kep Falcons off the score sheet. Rob Richards, Mke Kosiw and McBride each, had two goals wit.h Harrison and Tutak adding singles. The final group gaine against Cambridge Hawks proved ta be close and exciting. Whithy held a 2-1 lead after two periods on goals by Wade Brandi and Robertson. During the second period, Wildcat goalie Kyle Nova made several fine saves ta protect the one-goal lead. Atoms falI overtime The Whitbhy major atain AA hockey team. was elirinated from the Itchener Octoberfest turnament this past weekend by Toronto East Enders when a disputed goal was allowed in the second overtime period of quarter- final action. The goal spoiled a wild comeback that saw Whitby tie the gaine with il seconds ta, play in regulation time. Trailing 4-2 with a minute ta go, Whitby caine within one on a goal by Justin Hawe asisted by Jeif Seedhouse and Jaines Liske. At the 30-second mark, Adain Thibodeau scored what appeared to be the tying goal only ta hvae the goal called back. Whitby kept pushing and James Liske banged home the equalizer with il seconds ta go, assisted by Hawe. A firart period goal by Jeif Hass assisted by Jeremi Brimble and second period goal by Brandon Fowler after a nice feed froin Hass had led Whitby inta the exciting third period deadlocked at 2-2.
