With the win, Peterborough completed a perfect 24-0 season. The game was dloser than the score showedý (the iast Nats goal was into an empty net), but only Lue Chiasson couid beat the Nats goalie on the night. Bryan Rourke assisted on both goals. Whitby is now 12-6-3 in league play. In the lOth game of the unbeaten streak, Whitby defeated Markham 2-0 on, goals by Paui Tait and Mark Cipparone. Goaltender Mike Thornton earned the shutout. At a recent tournament in Li ndsay, Whitby faiied to reaeh the playoffis after being seeded in a very tough division. A very strong Kingston team defeated ail three of its division rivais, including a 4- 0o victory over Wiidcats, tW advance. The other three teams traded victories Wo end the tournament at 1-2. Whitby defeated Barrie 5-2 on two-goai performances by Matt Rae.and Chiasson, with Cipparone adding the other goal. Trinkunas, Andrew Allison and Ruttan each had two assista. Mississauga was full measure for a 6-1 victory over Whitby as Linkiater set up Chiasson for the Wildcats' only goal in the final game. Seleets earn a B ' in Tweed The Whitby major peewee select hockey team showed weil in back- to-back tournaments over the hoiidays. After losing the opening game 2- 0 ta Madoc in the, Tweed tournament, Whitby went on a scoring spree ta beat Bolton 12-1 and Marmora 5-2, ta win the B championship. Leading scorers in the. tournament were Ryan Trudeau, with four goals and David Besco with three. Strong performances we re put in by Kevin Taylor, Scott Cook, Ryan Meaney and Mike Kobrynovich. After a two-day break, Whitby went Wo the A chalnpionship in a Brighton toumnament by defeating Leaside 7-0 and Oakridges 5-2, Wo meet Brighton in the final game. Whitby took the lead with an unassisted goal by Ben Scheepers in the first period but Brighton tied it 2-2 in the second.
