Wldcats, the first Whitby tearn to earn an invitation to the tournament in reent memory, finished the tournament ranked sixth out ofthe 109 teains entered. Whitby surprised everyone by first defeating- the powerful Wecford teain, and then overpowering Les Etoiles de L'est who represented Montreal. They were beaten by Toronto Red Wings in the divisional final. Red Wings went on to win the tournament. Upon arriving home from Quebec, Wildcats faced Barrie in the second round of the OMHA playoffs. Whitby had previously beaten Centrai Ontario Wolves i two gaines straight. Barrie proved to be a worthy opponent indeed as Whitby won the first gaine " 3and lost the next two gaines 8-3 and 3- Facing elimination, Whltby came back strong to defeat Barrie 5-3 and die the sertes.
