Pag 27 I OITUARYI DOUGLAS BLAND A retired employee of the Wht= Mental Health Centre w hereh was a maintenance mechanic for 41 years, Douglas Bland died at Njax-Pickering General Hospital on March 29, 1996. Ho was 69. A son of the late Matthew Dennie Bland and Dora Backhoute, ho waz born in Whitby on May 8, 1926, and lived here al his life. Mr. Bland served in the Second World 'War with the 48th Highlanders. On Aug. 4, 1956 ho was married at St. John's Anglican Church Rectory to the former Eleanor Bradley, who survives him. He ls also survived by son Roger (and hi. wife Laura), daughter Camre (and her husband Ron Chambers), grandchildren Jenny Bland and Matthew Joseph Chambers, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bland le also survivod by his twin brother Robert of Monton, N. B. and brothers Thomas (and hi. wife Betty) of Port Hope and Joseph (and hi. wife Margaret> of Whitby. Mr. Bland was at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, Whitby were Bey.
