Judge William Giovan of Wayne County Circuit Court i Detroit, Mich., last week denied Chrysler's motion to quash h asi fedbTim and Judith Herriott. Giovan rejected Chrys- ler's argument that the case be dismissed because the April 1994' incident which prompted the law- suit occurred in Canada.' The Herriott!s 25-month- old son Stuart died of mas- sive head irtjuries when the rear door of a hrsier minivan driven by bis aunt came open and he fell out., The lawsuit was filed earlier this year after the family spent months, lobby- ingthe Canadian govern- ment to force Chrysier to implement more safety fea- tures into the design of the door latch.
