Virtuoso helps launch symphonyseason What is being heralded as probably the fineet season for mnany years for the Oshawa- Durham SYmphony Orchestra (ODSO), wiIl open on Sunday, Dec. 15 with The Great Romantics., The programn, designed by new music director and conductor, Marco Parisotto, includes three compositions; Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat,, Brahm's Symphony No. l In C minor, OP.68 and the first Performance of' a work for orchestra by Montreal composer James Harley. The work was conxmissioned by the Oshawa-Durham Symphony Orchestra and the Canada Council. The soloist for the piano concerto will be, in'the words of Parisotto, "The poetic André Laplante, a long- admired Canadian virtuoso, who will electrify you with the wizardry of Llszt's First Piano Concerto."
