PAGE 6, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY-30, 1980, WHITBY FREE PRESS Metrie -should it stay?0 The metrie systemn stili seerns to be giving. us problems. The Township of Brock has resolved that in vîew of the fact that the United States are not implemnenting the metric systemn except to a limnited degree and in light of the ap- proach of the British Governument to defer implemnenting major portions of the systemn, the Township recommend to the federal goverrument that they defer any further im- plemnentation of the metrie systemn. Brock Township requests that other Ontario municipalities be advised of the action taken and that their support be solicited. "We will be too small town if we accept this resolution," said Whitby Councillor Barry Evans. Evans said that it would be too confusing a step to stop the system now. Councillor Gerry Enxm said Whitby should ask federal government to reconsider the method in which they are implementing the rnetric system as people are having trouble changing over. These suggestions have been referred to the operations committee where the Town of Whitby's conversion will be reviewed. RARVFEVANS
