Crouch also said that the service responded to 835 cails during the year, up fromn 703 in 1978. Fire Hall No. 3 at 201 Brock Street South respon- ded to the greatest numnber of cails, 416, lollowed by Hall No. 2 on Thickson Road with 316. The lire department eru- ploys 96 persons on both a full-time and part-timne basis. Crouch has asked for four additional fuil-time liremnen. This is "in order to main- tain a minimum of three men per truck stationed at Thicksons Road at ail Urnes, " he said. Crouch said that 160 times last year a truck leIt the station with only two men. The highest fire loas year was 1976 when total damage in the town was $619,620. That was the year of the major lires at Stokely Van Camp and at the Whltby Psychiatrlc Hospital.
