LACAC gives birthday gift to town Whitby lias received its first gift for its 125th birth- day. On behaif of the Local Ar- chitechural Conservation Advisory Committee (LACAC)3 chairman Eugene Henry presented Council with a painting of the Whitby Harbor as it was in 1867. "Ie hope that it will prove to be a worthwhile addition to the town's growing collec- tion of historical materiai recalling the early days of Whitby, " henry said. The painting, a panel in oils was the product of Cam- bridge artist Roy Austin and since its completion it has been on display at the marina. Henry commissioned the painting two years ago. "This cluster of Whitby heritage buildings lasted un- tii the 1920's and the depression years prior to World War IV,' Henry said. "They are, as you know, al gone now.
