A gala dinner meeting was held at Cedricks Banquet Hall in Whitby. Nine-six, happy and enthusiastic ladies and gentlemen came out to wish the club well on this their Charter In- stallation night. Mayor Jim Gartshore brought greeting from the Town of Wh itby. He gave an eloquent short speech commenting on the benefits each new orgamization or club brings to the residents of the town. Councillor Val Marshall of Ajax, also a Toastmnistress member from the Pineridge Club brought officiai greeting from the Town of Ajax and personal greetings as a Toastmistress sister and friend. Louise Pannel from the Toastmistress' Regional Board of Directors came up to Canada from the U.S. especially to instaîl the of- ficers. The ceremony of in- stallation for the executive and the presentation of a special pledge to ail mem- bers was a very moving one. There were a few misted eyes about the room. Janice Williams also of Pineridge represented the International Toastmistress Board of Directors and she presented the officiai Char- ter. There were three speakers on the prograrn. Shirley Gilbert of Pineridge gave a humourous after dinner speech. Shirley MacDonald a new Meniber of the Whitby Club gave her self introduction speech and Carol Davis also a new member gave a prepared speech explaining just what Toastmistress does for each member.
