FROM PG. 7 musical presentation will be presented for all parents on Wed- nesday, May 7 at 1: 00 p.m. in the school gym. On may 6 the students in Mr. Brownson's grade 6 class will prepare "Foods of Many Lands" and later enjoy a meal, sam- pling a littie of each dish. On May 7 a group of the grade 7 and 8 students, accompanied by the school librarian Mrs. Hopkins, will attend a presen- tatfon by Norma Klein, a young people's author, at G.L. Roberts School in Oshawa. During the week Mrs. Hopkins will be presenting a Film Festival of Folklore to the kindergarte-n to grade 4 classes during their library visits. Mr. Dan Tomlinson, art consultant, wilI visit Mrs. Larish's grade 6 class on May 8 to give essons on life drawing. During the month of May the grade 4 students are par- ticipating in a "trip to Niagara Falls". Mr. Stock is having the pupils accumulate daily jogging totals to "reach" that city. Several staff members and students from grades 6 to 8 are presently working on a production of "Tom Sawyer". All parents are invited to enjoy this presentation which will be held May 22-23 at 7:30 p.m. in the gymnasiurn of Meadowcrest Sehool. THANK YOU The Brooklin Horticultural Society wishes to thank all those who supported the Annual Plant Auction and Bake Sale on Wednesday April 23. It was a great success and the proceeds will go towards Civic Beautification. This includes the attrac- tive hanging baskets on our main street during the summer as well as varlous bed plantings in Brooklin. We wish also to thank the Brooklin and District Kinsmen Club who generously donated the money for an ornamental tree and flowering shrub; first and second prizes for our draw. Special thanks to our entertaiming auctioneeer Ken Brown who as well donated a potted Yucca plant, our third prize for the draw. Johnston, of the Durham Chiropractie Society, urged parent to help their children discover the fun of being physically fit by encouraging good fitneis and health habits at an early age. "To be physically fit is to bring the efficiency level of the body to a point where it can meet the demanda of everyday living," he said. "This requires building en- durance and stamina, and gaiming greater resistance to disease and disability. " The doctor of chiropractic recommended this five-point program: 1. stress good posture habits; 2. require regular exer- cise; 3. provide a well-balanced diet; 4. have regular health and spinal check-ups, and 5. set a good example yourself. Dr. Johnston pointed out that good posture is an essential ingredient in at- taining a desirable degree of fitness.
