BROOKLIN SPRING FAIR A special meeting of the Brooklin Spring Fair Board was held at the Community Centre on April 22. Many Committees are short manpower for the fair weekend May 29, 30, 31 and June 1. If there is anyone who is able to donate a few hours of his/lher time one day of the above days, please contact a fair board member or Gary Young. BROOKLIN BRANCU LIBRARY NEWS The Brooklin Branch of the Witby Public Library has set Up a small paperback library in the Ashburn Community Centre. There are books for small children and for adults. The Ash- burn Community Centre wilI be open fromn 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays for use of this library collection by area residents. The Tuesday afternoon group and pre-school hour are currently in their last session before the suinmer. Speaker for Tuesday, May 6 will be Nancy Lewis who will, explain the Suzuki music method of teaching music to youngsters. In cooperation with the Brooklin Horticultural Society, the junior Library is now running a contest called "Come Grow With Us." Every child who takes out a book and shows his membership card is eligible to enter. The prizes for the draw will be things to plant, a tree and flowers etc. During the mon- th of May the Saturday story hours will be devot.ed to the themne of growing things. So encourage your children to grow, bring them to the library, you might even like to grow a little yourself. The Brooklin Branch has an excellent collection of gar- dening books for those of you who envy your neighbours green thumb. Corne see for yourself. The membership card to your library is stili the best bargain yet, it's free. NEWS FROM MEADOWNCREST PUBLIC SCHOOL On April 28 the grade one pupils enjoyed a visit from Mr. Waltham. He showed Indian relics and spoke to the children about topics relating to their studies. The week beginning May 5 has been designated as Education Week in the province of Ontario. There will be various events going on at Meadowcrest School at this time. On Tuesday evening May 6 from 7-9 p.m. there is to be an open house. Classrooms will be open and as well, the grade 7 and 8 students will be showing their science fair exhibits. Tahe primary teachers and pupils have been working on an operetta "Goldilocks".
