They were s0 impressed with the Kendalwood Road area, that time-out was taken for a littie amateur photography. Too-bad they didn't venture farther Up the street and notice the incorrect street signs. Oh well, we at least were honoured to have them visit our comniunity. By the way feilas, maybe your photographs were taken of thewrong ditches. WESTMINSTER UNITED CHURCH Just a reminder to visitors, that construction on Manning Food F irs t looks for producers Food First Durham, a group of people from various Whitby churches who are concerned about promnoting food self-sufficiency for Canada, are once again con- ducting a survey of the Whitby area for producers of fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs, honey, manure, etc. Support of such local producers who are wiiling to sell direct to the public can ensure a continuing supply of fresh, high quality food for our area. The 1,000 copies distributed last year in- cluded sources of fruit, vegetables, trout, rabbit, meat, eggs, honey and of some additive and preser- vative free processed foods. The updated directory will be available, free of charge, from the Whitby Public Library or the Natural Health Food Store, 121 Brock St. N. before the end of May. In termediate Choir First in music At the recently held Oshawa Kinsmen's Festival, Whitby Senior Public School entered five competitions, placing first in four and second in the fifth. The junior boys received top marks of 86/100. The intermediate choir received 83; the school choir 84; and the class of '82 received 83/100 as well. FOR THE CHILDREN The Whitby Public Uàbrary wll continue to hold its children's story hour and after school mini-movies throughout the month of May. The story hour is held every Saturday between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. for children between ages 6 and Up. THORNTON SCHOOL The outside appearance of the school la beginning to look a littie shabby. However, fast action is expected to remedy the situation. No sooner had the complaint been lodged, when of- ficiais of the school board proceeded to take action. The sehool should be in ship-shape very soon. Mr. Hamer keeps the inside of the school in a spotiess condition and it's gratlfying to know that the outside will soon be the same. -We commend you for such prompt service. P. C. WOMEN'S LUNCHEON The Progressive Conservative ladies are planning a lun- cheon on Monday, May 26 at the Pickering United Church. CANDY STRIPERS FOR WHITBY PSYCHIATRIC Two Corridor area teenagers received their 100 hour pin and tee shirt for service in Candy Stripping at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital.
