MeAlinden re-elected president Charles McAlinden who unanimously re-elected as president of the Whitby Irouquois swim club for the forthcomning 1980/81 season at the club's annual general meeting on June 26. MeAlinden stated the past year bas been one of growth, development and change for the club, with WISC becoming incorporated and for the first Urne a young swimmer qualifying for the Provincial Championship in Ottawa. McAlinden also noted an obviously fine job is being done by head coach Tom McLaughlin, and the club has been equally successful on the administrative side, due to the effort and hard work by the board of direc- tors for the past season. Retiring vice-president and public relations chair- man, Tom Goulding, obser- ved that Whitby can be proud of its swirn club as it has represented the com- munity so well at meets throughout Ontario and brought home numerous honors and awards. Jack Connor will be replacing Goulding as vice- president, who- will be ser- ving as membership chair- man in the new season. Marlise Pfeiffer was also re-elIected to the position of club treasurer, and Janice Ainsley will again serve as the club's secretary. Other board members in- clude Dr. George Blake, of- ficials' co-ordinator; Pauline Cattes, meet manager, Yvonne Donnelly; social convenor, coach Tom McLaughlin, and Pat Aldridge, board.members. Tom Goulding, swim-a- thon chairman, reported the club to have raised over $3,000 in the annual swim-a- thon, largely due to the generosity of the people of Whitby. Goulding also stated the swimmers worked hard seeking pleges and the majority of WISC swimmers completed the 200 lenghts within the required time of two hours. The Saints Roller Rink on Burns St. in Whitby donated a number of free passes as incentives for softball league, cinderella division for girls between 10 and 13 years: Hlenry BuidialI defeated Kinsmen Club 34-6.
