It has always just been here and very popular at that. Dick Clark has owned the Family Kartway track on Brock Street north for 18 years and now expanding from the original track. Now the track is acknowledge at two and a half miles in length to be the biggest track of it's kind in North America. A charge of $1.75 per lap gives a person ap- proximately 5 minutes of fun in a go-cart along a twisitng turning track at a top speed of 23 miles per hour. Kartway have a total of 125 go-karts which can be used at one time. They are 4-5 feet in length, construc- ted of a chrome alloy and they are powered by a 4.5 and five horse power Honda engine. He said that many families will come down for the day and bring a bar- beque. There are swings, a snack concession and a games room on the grounds as well as ample parking. The Kartway also have a go-kart club which compete for trophies in races around the province. This year 15 of the 23 scheduled races will be held at the Kartway track. A $12 membership is charged as well as a $6 entry fee into each racing event. The club is a non-profit organization using most of the money to buy trophies and pay for club activities. Family Kartway is open 9- 10 months of the year 7 days a week. Monday through Friday the track is open 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sundays.
