This represents a substan- tial increase in facilities for manufacturing Sclairf ilm polyolef in film. Work on the expansion will begin im- mediately and will be com- pleted by the end of 1981. The new facilities will in- clude nev film extrusion equipmen. .s well as ad- ditional space for raw materials and finished goods handling. In addition to Sclairfilm, the Whitby plant produces Dartek nylon film and Vexar plastic netting. The plant was opened in 1959 and con- tinued market demand has made it necessary to expand the capacity several times according to a company's spokesman. The films produced at Whitby are sold on a world wide basis for packaging consumer products such as milk and meat. They are also used for many in- dustrial applications. "This new capacity will enable us to meet the in- creasing demands in North America and other.parts of the world for the high per- formance characteristics of Sclairfilm" said V. Lunski, manager of Du Pont's Packaging Division.
