Tonight (Wednesday) and tommorrow night will likely be your last chance to sec Smokey and the Bandit II at the Hyland Theatre in Oshawa. This film bas been packing themn in now for several weeks, but bas just about ran out of steamn. The first Smokey picture with Burt Reynolds and Jack-le Gleason caught on whith its stunt driving bits and the comedy of Gleason who was determined to get the Bandit. In round two it is much of the same with supportin roles by Sally Fields and Dom Deluise. It is doubtful if we will ever see a round three. The story line is a bit thin. It has tbe Bandit and bis friend trying to get a pregnant elephant from one state to another, when the elephant is supposed to be kept at home base because of being quarantined. There are countless, spin-outs by the Bandit, cars leaping through the air ir directions and the big sc where a herd of trailer ti sports head out acros. sand fiat to meet a her( police cruisers in what been described as biggest game of "Chick, ever to bappen anywher. Bits & Pieces - The CTV telethon to raise money for Terry Fox turned out to be bigger and better than even the producers had hoped for. The five hour show was tbrown together in two days and came off witb only the odd clunker which a tribute to those behind the scenes who have to sweat it out.
