Last Monday the town of Whitby received a gift of 1,000 tulip buibs (rom the City of Bloemendaal, Holland, 15 miles west of Amisterdam. According to a letter received before the arrivai of the bulbs, (rom the Bugomaster of Bloemen- daal, the bulbs were sent over as a special thanks to ail Canadians in regards to the 35th anniversary of the liberation of Holland during World War II on May 5 of this year. The bulbs, which will bloom into orange-red tulips, wilI be planted sometime this week in Rotary Park, Centenial Park, the cenitaff and at Town Hall. "In three-years these lbs from Hoiland thousand wxl be 5,000 or more, who knows," said Vic- tor Veninga, the town hall caretaker and a native Hollander. "Queen Juliana sent so many thousand bulbs to Ot- tawa and now look how many there are." Veninga said that the tulips wilbloom likely in the sprîng.
