"Some weeks ago, I asked a question about the buses and I was shouted down," Emm said. "When I raised the issue at a council meeting, Councillor Atter- sley jumped to bis feet and several counciliors looked at each other as much as to say, 'What's Emm up 10 now?"' The criticism of Emm was based on bis statements on the bus system that ap- peared in the September 17 edition of the Whitby Free Press. Emm also accuded Bugelic of "'playing on an unfortunate happening" by by bringing up Emm's ai> sence froni the council meeting during which final approval of the transit system was given. In that September 17 ar- ticle, Emni said that he would have voted against the proposai that established Whitby's public transit ser- vice. Emm also told council that he was absent from a recent meeting of the operations committee, called to discuss bus problems, because of a storni that had torn down power linos and he felt he shoulld be on the scene as chairman of both the operations committee and the public works depar- tinent. Emm also told coundil that when be arrived late at the meeting, he was told by Bugelli that he could not comment on the buses. Bugelli replied that Emm's dlaim was "a lie." He also indicated that he would continue to outline his position on the buses. "Either l'il bring it out here, .or 'II bring it out in some other forum."
