This Christ- mas, lend an elf a hand! Make a few holiday toys with your own hands. One idea that may be most appropriate: a Santa hand Puppet. They're simple to make (no elfin magic required); ail you need is some house- hold scraps, a bit of time and, of course, that Christmas spirit. The puppet serves as a great stocking stuffer or decoration. But, what better way to keep your friends' and relatives' little Jimmys and Janes enter- tained on Christmas day than by putting their hands into a puppet and out of mischief. Fold the large piece of red felt in haîf. Stitch a simple "T-shaped" body, leaving the ends of the arms open. Cut along the stitch and turn the material inside-out. Fold an inch- square piece of white felt in two and cut out mitten- shaped hands. Slip the ends into the armholes and sew. Complete the puppet's body by cutting a 1 ½,-inch hole across the top center of the body which, wiIl be for the head. Glue a ½/-inch wide band of black felt around the body and place cuffs on the sleeves and a white buckle on the front.
