The Ontario Hotel was owned for a time by Clement Dawes. He was the brother of my gg-grandfather Thomas Dawes MD. They came from Gloucestershire County, England in 1833. Clement Dawes was born about 1832 in Micheldean, Gloucestershire County, England, and he died in 08 Feb 1886 in Reach, Ontario County, Ontario, Canada. Clement married 1st Margaret Armstrong, and when she died he married Euphemia Caroline Mill/Mills.

Thanks, Teri! Would you believe that the newspapers for most of Ontario County are missing from 1886? We have yet to find an obituary for Clement Dawes. Your comment has been most helpful!
