My Great Grandfather built this hotel, when he first came to Canada he had a shoe store in Toronto sold it and moved to Whitby. After his death My Grandfather (his son ) then ran the hotel. Grampa Bandel married Margaret Stevenson (my Grandma). They had 4 children Ottila Bandel (Heffering) William (Bill Bandel, Emily Bandel and Helen Bandel(McDonald). Gradma died while giving birth to her 5 th child. Grampa raised his children with the help of a housekeeper. After a few yrs he sold the hotel to his cousin Lou Bandel. Grampa then moved to Palace St. Whitby where he died. I am the oldest daughter of Tillie Heffering who was a Registerd Nurse. Jane Heffering Martin.
