This photograph came from a series of photographs in the Town of Whitby files for properties that owed taxes. Many of these photos had a person standing in them. It may have been an official from the town, but we are not quite certain.

Hello~
My mother-in-law, Florence McCann Raven, recognizes this store as that of her grandfather, Thomas Joseph McCann 11.(1841-1920) She does not, however, recognize the man standing in front of the store. She remembers that her grandfather Thomas ran his carriage and cabinet making business from behind the door where the unknown man is standing.
More details as they emerge.
