- Description
- A black and white photographic postcard of the shops and stores along Colborne Street in downtown Whitby. The building to the far left says "ANDREW M. ROSS" just above the second floor. Below that is a sign for "BOOKS STATIONERY MAGAZINES" and an awning "WHITFIELD'S DRUG STORE". The next building has a car parked outside and a BASSETT clock that reads 3:43. Further to the right, a rectangular sign sticking off the building reads "BARBER SHOP" and outside is a striped pole indicating a barber shop. Towards the centre of the post card there are two (2) people walking along the sidewalk and they are passing under an awning that says "PRINGLES GROCERIES". There is a carriage parked to the side of the street too.
- Notes
- This is a view looking along the east side of Brock Street about midway in the block north of Colborne Street, as far south as the King Brothers’ Tannery at Brock and Dunlop Streets. At centre is the old town hall, on the south east corner of Brock and Colborne Streets built in 1877 and demolished in 1960.
