Description

A black and white large format negative of K & M Cleaners located at 112 Colborne Street West, Whitby, Ontario. View is of the front of the building taken from the street. There are two men dressed in suits standing in front of the building. A sign on the building states "K & M Cleaners will open here". Another sign states "W. L. Hess, Contractor, Whitby Ont, Architect Toronto Ont.".

Notes

Marjorie Georgina Ruddy (1908-1980) was a prominent Whitby photographer and the only commercial photographer in Whitby during the 1930s and 1940s. Marjorie was the official photographer for the Whitby Police Department starting in the 1930s and as a result took many photographs of car accidents, fingerprints and crime scenes. (Station Gallery.
