The date of this photograph is probably about 1895, from the style of the printing of Barrett's name. Augustus Barrett moved from Cannington to Toronto in 1895.
My grandmother was born in 1885 and I have a couple pictures of her with siblings and on the photo is the Barrett sign. I was curious and typed the name in and found this awesome page. Thanks.
I am from Mumbai (India) and I made several visits to Whitby (Ont) during the last 2 decades to visit my daughter who is settled in Whitby. Last year I was checking the oldest establishments in Whitby and their photos to amuse my grandson. That is how I came to know about Augustus Barret's photo studio. There is something common Mr. Barret and I have the name Augustus. Moreover, my hobby was photography and Photoshop. I am into 80 and I gave up photography but sometimes I do photoshop. I wish to know the exact location of Augustus's studio as I want to visit that location. Hope someone will help me.
