- A black and white negative of a portrait of Andrew Muir (1893-1967).
- Notes
- Andrew Muir was born at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1893 and came to Canada in 1922. He worked for 30 years at the King Brothers' Tannery in Whitby until it closed in 1952, and from 1953 to 1964 he was supervisor of Maintenance for the Whitby District High School Board. Mr. Muir was a Whitby Town Councillor in 1943-44, Deputy Reeve in 1946, and Reeve in 1947-48. He later served as Town Assessor. He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Grand Lodge of England, AF and AM. Mr. Muir was President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 112 in 1943-44 when the Legion Hall was built, and in 1955. He served in the Royal Air Force in the First World War. Mr. Muir died at Oshawa General Hospital on July 19, 1967 and is buried in Mount Lawn Cemetery, Whitby Ontario.
