President, Mr. A. Kitchen; Secretary, Mr. W. J. Haycraft; Treasurer, Mr. Scott and Mr. D. Holliday, Librarian. As we read through the minutes of succeeding years, we see the names, Dr. Jas. Moore, Dr. John Moore, Charles Calder, Wm. Ormiston, Thos Gibson, John Allems, W. A. Holliday, R. H. Walls, D. W. McDonald, Thos. Hall, D. Burns, N. Colwill, Rev. H. Foley. In 1912, we read that a concert was held to raise funds and a professional entertainer engaged for this. In that year there were 141 members, 152 new books purchased and a total at that time in the library of 2,808 volumes. Up to this time the library was housed in the Council room, which at that time was the large room on second flat of the building now occupied by Mr. W. Piatti. In 1916 a Committee was named to destroy useless books and repair those worth preserving and for the first time some women's names appear on the list of directors. These were Miss Olver, Miss Phalen, Mrs. Wm. Lawrence and Mrs. Kirch, and during that year Miss Marie Holliday was appointed Librarian at a salary of $50.00. There is no record of the amount paid the librarian before this. In 1931 the library board found themselves in difficulties and appealed to the Women's Institute to help. They met with representatives of the institute and a committee was named from the Institute and Library Board to meet the Council and ask for space in the basement of the Township Hall for the Library. This Committee was as follows: Wm. Ormiston, John Whiteford, Mrs. H. H. Loosemore, Mrs. Geo. Jones and Mrs. F. M. Holliday. The privilege was granted and the books moved to this space on Sept. 17, 1931. This Township Hall was the former Baptist Church bought by the Township for Municipal affairs. At a meeting in October of the same year, the Women's Institute again appears and, with Mrs. Loosemore as Convenor, they vote $100.00 toward the purchase of books and recommend Mrs. Geo. Jones
