The Tweedsmuir history pages we have just read were written and compiled by Mrs. W. Frank Batty. Mrs. Batty was one of those serene, dignified gentlewomen who take pleasure in holding the good things of the past and preserving them in every possible way for appreciative folk, Her talent in this respect led her to he appointed the first historian for the Brooklin Women's Institute, whose members co-operated with her to make and enjoy these pages of interesting points in the history of Brooklin community. The suddenness of Mrs. Batty's death (January 20, 1950) brought home to her very large group of friends in the Brooklin Women's Institute a greater realization of the urgency of this endeavour to keep safe the traditions and customs of the generations of Brooklin, past present and future, we are proud of the work of our friend who has gone and know that we carry on with an enthusiasm which she fostered.
