Melanie Stelatos, profiled in our Oct. 21 issue, captured three medals at the 2016 IDO World Ballet, Jazz and Modern Championships in Germany. Her golds came in the Children's Ballet Formation, Children's Ballet Small Group, and Children's Jazz Formation competitions. She also finished 6th and 11th in two children's modern categories. Her mother, Krista, thanks her Team Canada choreographers Christie McKay (jazz), Irina Egorova (ballet), and Kathrine McCarthy (modern) for their instruction and choreography. "Melanie thoroughly enjoyed her first experience dancing on a world stage," says Krista. Melanie will perform with her studio, Hoofers Performing Arts, in their upcoming Christmas ballet production of Swan Lake, at Bowmanville High School on Nov. 26 and 27.
